Partial Dentures in Summerville SC
Losing teeth can be overwhelming, no matter what the circumstances.
First, you have to deal with the prospect of living with a gap in your smile. Then you have to figure out which type of tooth replacement looks natural, fits comfortably, and won’t put a dent in your budget.
We are fortunate that advances in recent years have provided us with state-of-the-art tooth replacement solutions like dental implants. However, even time-tested restorations like partial dentures have improved vastly in design and material. They can now be made to look more natural and fit more comfortably than ever before.
When Are Partial Dentures Used?
Partial dentures are most appropriate for a patient who has experienced significant tooth loss but still has healthy teeth remaining. At Azalea Dental, our primary goal is to preserve as much of your natural tooth structure as possible. For a patient who has not lost an entire arch of teeth, a partial denture can replace missing teeth while preserving the health and structure of the remaining teeth.
A partial denture is a set of artificial teeth that are attached to a metal framework or plastic base. A metal framework is the most common option; however, a plastic base may be used for a temporary restoration in certain situations. The metal framework supports the needed number of artificial teeth and is secured in the mouth by metal clasps that clip around the natural teeth.
What Are the Benefits of Partial Dentures?
Dentures offer patients a number of health and esthetic benefits, including:
- Teeth that appear healthy, attractive, and natural
- Improved ability to chew, eat, and speak
- Renewed confidence in the appearance of the smile
- Elimination of painful teeth
In addition, Dr. Riley takes the time to work closely with our patients to ensure that their partials fit comfortably and look as close to natural teeth as possible.
